“I’m allergic to small-talk, so it seemed a great opportunity to engage in some big-talk! I find that small groups of 3-4 people are the ideal balance, allowing enough time for each person to participate while also exploring a range of views, so for me it’s the perfect setup for some really interesting and enjoyable conversations.
A deep conversation is for sure one way to achieve a feeling of connection, but I also dance Argentine tango, and there you can be dancing in close embrace, connected to each other and the music and the other dancers around you, all without a word being spoken. You might not even speak the same language or know each other’s name – so connection can be found in all kinds of ways.
It’s easy in a city like London to be constantly doing things, on the move, always caught up in projects and activities. I now begin each day with some silent time, just being. No screens, no music, just a cup of coffee and silence. I’ve found it an incredibly peaceful way to open the day, and it’s also led to some really helpful insights.”
