“A moment of connection: I had just moved to London and I was adjusting to urban life again. I had found it a little alienating travelling on public transportatio with the lack of eye contact and cold impressions from everyone. One day I was travelling home and saw a couple of guys in their early twenties looking at me and the book I was reading. They ended up asking me a couple of questions about it and I recoiled at first. However, it led to a really interesting talk about their studies and travels. We had been to the same city in Bulgaria and it really gave me a sense of connection in a city I felt cold and distant from. They left the train, but I felt really warm and at ease meeting people I had felt uneasy sitting opposite when I got on the train.“
